Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Weather Systems
Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the state, bringing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams working to manage the widespread outages.
Southern State's Weather Woes
At the same time, approximately one thousand energy customers in Victoria also experienced power outages after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, mainly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
The following day was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity anticipated across various areas of both regions.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after past events where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the area.
