One two-month voyage circling Australia is being halted days after the tragic passing of an elderly lady who was left behind by the cruise liner on a isolated tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the remote island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the party for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the personnel became aware the woman was not present.

A large-scale search operation located her remains the following day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, alongside police and the state coroner.
